Women's Hockey Drops Third Consecutive Game

PITTSTON, Pa. - Feb. 9, 2024 - The Cougars were defeated by the Monarchs (5-16-1, 4-12-1) for their third straight loss. After clinching a berth to the playoffs, Chatham allowed two goals to the second-lowest-scoring team in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC). The Cougars are in seventh place with a conference record of
7-8-2.

King's was first to the board in the opening period. Chatham led in shots on goal 11-3 but could not find the back of the net. They trailed entering the second.

The next period was scoreless as the Cougars led in shots on goal 12-1.

In the third, Junior Samantha Barrett tied the game on a power play with assists coming from seniors Allie Corser-James and Abi Fuzaylov. Then, at the 15:11 mark, the Monarchs regained the lead for good.

Only six of the Monarch's 25 total shots were on goal, a season-low for a Chatham opponent. Nine of those shots were blocked and four of them were saved by junior Lindsey Batz. The Cougars led in shots on goal 37-6.

Women's Hockey will return for game two of this series on Saturday at 2 p.m.
