Women's Basketball Set to Host Geneva for PAC Crown

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - After Thursday night's 66-56 win the PAC Seminal, two-seeded Chatham Women's Basketball (23-3, 18-2) will host the five-seeded Geneva Golden Tornadoes (14-13, 11-9) at the Athletic and Fitness Center on Saturday at 4 p.m. The matchup marks the second consecutive PAC title game appearance for David Saur's Cougars and the first home championship game in program history.

The Cougars won both regular season matchups against the Golden Tornadoes, with two of their highest points totals of the year. At home on Nov. 21, Chatham rolled to a 92-77 victory behind a career-high 21 points from sophomore Hannah Chenault as well as 18 points from junior Ashlie Louden. Junior Aurielle Brunner added 16 points on 7-8 shooting with eight steals, six rebounds and three assists.

The Cougars again bested the Golden Tornadoes on Jan. 17 in Beaver Falls with a 94-76 win that featured a career-high 22 points from junior Charjae Brock. Louden tallied another 18 with six rebounds, three assists and three steals while sophomore Alyssa Laukus netted 16 points on 7-12 shooting.

Chatham enters the game winners of eight straight and 15 straight at home dating back to last season. The program's only other PAC Final appearance came last season when they fell to Saint Vincent in Latrobe.

Geneva has carved its path to the championship through two victories on the road, defeating four-seed Allegheny on Tuesday and pulling off a massive 89-75 upset of top-seeded W&J on Thursday. Saturday marks the Golden Tornadoes' first appearance in the title game, so both sides will be looking for their first ever PAC crown.

The winner of Saturday's contest will receive the league's automatic qualifying bid to this year's Division III Championship Tournament. The selected Division III Championship teams, as well as the first and second round site selections, will be announced Monday, February 26. First and second round games are scheduled for Friday-Saturday, March 1-2.
