PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Feb. 13, 2024 - Men's Volleyball ended their four-game losing streak against Wilson (2-5, 0-0 CSAC). After dropping the first set, the Cougars went on to win the next three. 

Freshman Benjamin Shelestak had a match-high 16 kills and three aces while first-year Tyler McKnight had nine kills to go along with seven digs. Senior Maximilian Barrett had a season-high 10 points with seven kills, an ace and four total blocks. Chatham had 41 assists as freshman Alex Moncello (23) and senior Coulter Chaffee (12) combined for 35. 

Freshman Luis Carrasquillo had a team-high 14 digs followed by Shelestak's 13 and Moncello's 9. 

Set one was the worst the Cougars hit all night (.091). The most either team led by was three as points were traded throughout. It would not be until the final score (25-21) that the visitors separated themselves. 

The Purple and Grey hit a match-high .417 in the second set. A 5-1 run pulled Chatham away in the middle of the set. The closest the Phoenix were was within five, but the Cougars staved off any rallying efforts to get the win 25-18. 

The Cougars trailed for the majority of set three. In the middle of the set, Chatham took advantage of multiple Wilson errors to power past the Phoenix 25-21. 

In the final set, a kill by freshman Tim McCabe sparked a 5-0 run to put the Cougars up 21-14. McKnight recorded five of his nine kills including two of the last five points for Chatham. Shelestak ended the match off an assist from Moncello, making the final score 25-17. 

The Cougars' next match will come against Carlow on Thursday at 7 p.m.
