PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Feb. 1, 2024 - The Cougars stole one set in their 1-3 loss to the Saint Vincent Bearcats (5-4). For the second time this season, Chatham struggled to hit positive, netting a -.007 attack percentage.
The Cougars had 36 errors to go along with their 35 kills. Freshman
Benjamin Shelestak (9) and senior
Maximilian Barrett (9) combined for 18 kills. Trailing them was freshman
Tim McCabe with eight kills. Shelestak was responsible for three of the four aces served by the Cougars, bringing his point total to a team-high 13. Meanwhile, freshman
Alex Moncello (17) and senior
Coulter Chaffee (12) accounted for 29 of Chatham's 32 assists.
Defensively, freshman
Luis Carrasquillo had a match-high 18 digs, followed by Shelestak's 15. Freshmen
Mannix McKaveney,
Kyle Penn and Shelestak all recorded two blocks.
Along with hitting struggles, The Cougars amassed 14 service errors on the night.
Chatham will headline a tri-match on Saturday in the AFC when they play Carlow. The first serve will be at 11 a.m.
