PITTSBURGH – Chatham Men's Basketball (7-2, 5-1 PAC) held Grove City to 19 points in the first half of their game Saturday, but a 53-point outburst in the second half by the Wolverines was enough to capture the victory for Grove City (6-3, 4-1).
Â
Chase Yarberough was the Wolverines' leading scorer, netting 26 points and recording 3 steals and 4 assists. Yarberough shot 4-4 from beyond the arc. Mike Christenson put up 18 points for Grove City along with 3 assists. Isaac Cherry had a game high 8 rebounds and hot double digits on the score sheet with 10 points.

Â
Chatham jumped out to a 10-point lead early, jumping out to an 18-8 advantage in the first 10 minutes of play from a 12-0 run including 9 points from
Lovenson Xavier. The Cougars extended that lead to 12 near the end of the first half, holding Grove City without a field goal for 13-plus minutes. A mini 4-0 run by the Wolverines would set the stage for a dominant second half by the visitors. Grove City cut Chatham's 8-point halftime lead to just one by the 16:16 mark, then proceeded to outscore the Cougars 26-11 over the next 10 minutes of the game. The Wolverines' would extend advantage to as much as 13 with five minutes to go. Chatham was able to get within 6 with the help of Xavier and
Easton Fulmer three-pointers, but it would not be enough to overcome Grove City's 75 percent second-half shooting percentage.
Â
The Cougars will have 12 days to prepare for the Music City Classic in Nashville, where they will first face Carthage at 7 p.m. on Nov. 19.
