Cougars Slated to Visit Bearcats in PAC Semifinal

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – After defeating Thiel College on Tuesday night in front of a raucous crowd at Chatham's Athletic & Fitness Center, Women's Volleyball will travel to #2 seed Saint Vincent for a PAC Tournament semifinal matchup on Thursday night. The Bearcats (14-11, 8-2 PAC) clinched a first-round bye in the tournament and finished one game ahead of the Cougars in the PAC standings.
 
Saint Vincent defeated Chatham in Latrobe 3-1 on Oct. 30 in the teams' only meeting of the season, with all four sets being decided within a 3-point margin (25-27, 27-25, 25-23, 25-22). Four Cougars set career highs in that match; sophomore Zoie Bateman with 18 kills, first year Annika Solfronk with 10 kills, senior Alyssa Leskovac with 30 digs, and junior Sierra Ricci with 4 service aces. Solfronk matched her career high with 9 digs, and sophomore Ava Plunkard matched her career high with 48 assists.
 
Saint Vincent's attack is spearheaded by freshman Meegan Williams, senior Kaelyn Staples-Klasnic, and junior Lauren Fox. Williams recorded 20 kills in the teams' regular season matchup. Staples-Klasnic is sixth in the PAC in kills per set (3.15). Fox is seventh in the conference in hitting percentage (.240) and fifth in blocks per set (0.88). Senior Vivian Poach has set up the Bearcat attack this season with 9.77 assists per set during conference play, which is the most in the PAC. Senior Stacie Ramos is tied for the most digs during conference play with 285 for Saint Vincent.
 
The winner of the match will face the winner of #4 Westminster and #1 Allegheny on Saturday for the PAC Championship, with the highest remaining seed hosting.
 
Thursday night's match at the Robert S. Carey Center is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
