PITTSBURGH PA - The Cougars took on the Yellow Jackets tonight in a PAC match up but both sides could not be separated.
Chatham struck first with an early goal from
Luke Matzelle in the 7' minute off an assist from
Azavier Coppin. Leading 1-0, the Cougars played a more defensive game, however their lead would not last as Zachary Johnson would level the scoring for Waynesburg in the 20' minute. Johnson's goal would be assisted by Beau Hawkins.
The Yellow Jackets would take the lead just before half thanks to Michael Kanu, who would score in the 42' minute. The score would be 2-1 in Waynesburg's favor moving into the second half.
Chatham would once again score early in the half, with
Azavier Coppin tying the game at 2-2 with his goal in the 54' minute. Coppin, now leading Chatham in career goals (20), would get his latest goal off assists from
Luke Matzelle and
Albi Xhafa.
The Cougars would then go on to take the lead for a second time in the match after
Xavier Johnston found the back of the net in the 60' minute. Johnston's goal would be assisted by
Azavier Coppin.
Chatham would retain the lead for only six minutes until Waynesburg tied the game once more with a goal from Liam Mowbray, assisted by Michael Kanu. The second half would end at 3-3.
The Cougars with a PAC record of 3-1-3, will continue their season against Grove City on Saturday, October 19 with kickoff set for 3:30.
