Cougars Roll Tomcats 112-45

GREENVILLE, Pa. - January 31, 2024 - Chatham Women's Basketball (18-3, 14-2) rolled to a 112-45 victory over the Thiel Tomcats (0-21, 0-16) on Wednesday at the Beeghly Gymnasium. The Cougars tied the program record with 47 made field goals, which they set against Thiel back on Dec. 6.

Graduate guard Kaitlyn Fertig led all scorers with a season-high 19 points on 9-9 shooting, including 1-1 from deep. Junior guard Ashlie Louden tallied 17 points with five three-pointers and added six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Sophomore forward Alyssa Laukus netted 14 points on 7-8 shooting and grabbed eight boards, while junior guard Charjae Brock scored 12 points on 5-9 shooting. Junior forward Samantha Hardy recorded nine points and contributed six rebounds, four steals, two assists and block. Sophomore guard Hannah Chenault put up seven points and led the team with five assists to match her season high.

The Cougars opened the game on a 29-4 run with 14 points from Louden to get into the driver's seat early. Chatham would win the second quarter 30-9 which included an 18-0 stretch to go into half leading by 46. They would not slow down in the third quarter, putting up another 30 points with 11 from Fertig. The Cougars netted another 19 in the final frame, which included freshman guard Caroline Murray's first-career point on a free throw in the final minute.

Chatham finished the day at 55.3% (47-85) from the floor and 39.3% (11-28) from beyond the arc while holding Thiel to 23.7% (14-59) from the floor and 26.7% (8-30) from deep. The Cougars dominated on the glass, winning the board battle 53-32, and tallied their highest assist total of the season at 29.

Women's Basketball will return to action on Saturday with a road battle against the Westminster Titans.
