Cougars Fend off Dutchwomen in Overtime

Box Score

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Jan. 27, 2024 - Women's Hockey overcame a late push by the Dutchwomen (5-14-1, 4-11-1) in overtime. The Cougars split the season series with Lebanon Valley and are now 9-5-3 overall and 7-5-2 in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC).

In the first, Chatham found the back of the net after senior Cameron Carmody scored off a rebound. The assists were credited to junior Samantha Barrett and freshman Morgan Black. The shots on goal favored the Cougars 19-10, and Chatham led 1-0 entering the second.

The Cougars had six more shots on target compared to the Dutchwomen, but no scores were registered. Lebanon Valley had two power play opportunities but failed to convert.

In the final period, the Cougars maintained their one-goal lead until the 18:59 mark. A cross-checking penalty on freshman Dalia Samoulidis gave the Dutchwomen another power play, and they capitalized. Chatham entered overtime leading the shot count 50-26, and their final shot was the game-winning score. Senior Allie Corser-James took the puck off the faceoff and went the distance for her 10th goal of the season.

Corser-James finished the weekend with four total points and is now seventh in the UCHC in goals. Senior Ally Nolan's three assists over the two games gave her the conference lead in assists with 17. She is also second in the UCHC in total points with 25.

The Purple and Grey are now in seventh place in the UCHC standings. They will travel to ninth-ranked Utica on Feb. 2 for their season series with the Pioneers.
