Softball Swept in Home Series with PAC Newcomer Allegheny

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - April 7, 2023 - Chatham Softball hosted Allegheny College tonight in a PAC doubleheader. Allegheny would go home with both games in their favor, with final scores of 3-2 and 8-6.

Game one saw four strikeouts from first-year pitcher Victoria Murren in her complete game. She was also active in the field, totaling a team-high six assists in game one, followed by graduate student short stop Kyley Fijalkowski with four.

At the plate, senior Mackenzie Dunn would lead the Cougars with two hits and two RBIs, citing a triple and a home run within her stat line.

Seniors Lauren Haak, Kaitlyn Collins, and Alyssa Hoffman, as well as junior Savanna Ahlborn, would each tally one hit.

Game two began in the Cougars' favor after a five-run second inning. Graduate student Kelsey Benjamin, Dunn, and Collins would each contribute an RBI, and Ahlborn's single would score two Cougars.

Chatham's final run would come in the sixth inning, thanks to a sacrifice fly from Mackenzie Dunn.

Lauren Haak, Savanna Ahlborn, and graduate student Paige Shaftic each registered a team-high two hits, and Shaftic would score a team-high two runs.

In the circle, starter Cailyn Lucas and reliever Victoria Murren would each strike out three Gators, allowing five and four hits respectively.

The Cougars now stand at 4-20 overall and 1-9 in conference. They return to action on Wednesday, April 12 on the road at La Roche University for a non-conference doubleheader.
