Comeback Falls Short in Men’s Lacrosse Season Finale with Saint Vincent

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - April 28, 2023 - Men's Lacrosse hosted Saint Vincent tonight in their final PAC matchup. What started as a large Bearcat lead was minimized by the Cougars throughout the game, but ultimately the visiting team would pull ahead for a 10-8 win.

Chatham's first goal was scored by first-year Trent Griffin, who was assisted by junior Tanner Cindrich. Classmate Jacob Lubawy was next, scoring three straight Cougar goals, the second of which was assisted by Griffin.

The Cougars would trail by as much as three goals in the first half, but first-year Cody Rosati would follow Lubawy to net his first collegiate goal, tying the game at five.

The Bearcats scored four straight goals to bring the scoring deficit back up. Junior Riley Lewis would score his own unassisted goal  late in the third before assisting on sophomore Paul Freyre's goal in the fourth.

Chatham's eighth and final goal was scored in a solo effort by rookie Matt Woodall.

In net, first-year Brett Zaruba made 17 stops. Defensively in front of Zaruba, sophomore Thomas Curtain picked up a season-high eight ground balls, also causing one turnover. Senior Clark Styles trailed with four, going 10-22 on face-offs. Both senior Brennen Redcay and sophomore Dylan Wanichko led the Cougars with two caused turnovers.

The loss to the Bearcats eliminates the Cougars from playoff contention. Chatham finished their season 6-10 overall and 3-4 in conference.
