DAVENPORT, Fla. - March 2, 2023 - Chatham Baseball dropped its fourth straight contest with a 9-7 loss against John Jay College Thursday morning. The Cougars are now 3-4 on the year.
John Jay jumped out to a 7-0 lead with four runs in the first inning and one in each of the next three. The Cougars responded with three runs in the fifth when sophomore first baseman

Jake Bredl scored on an error and graduate outfielder
Nico Cuello walked with the bases loaded.
Chatham would score again in the sixth when junior infielder
Benny Dottle single to drive in sophomore infielder
Sammy Helton which cut the lead to 7-4. A Bloodhounds homer in the bottom half of the sixth made it 8-4 before junior outfielder
Frankie DeLuca brought in Cuello with a sac fly.
The Cougar offense scored twice in the eighth with a bases-loaded walk from graduate catcher
Caleb Lehman and a sac fly from sophomore catcher
Tyler Cote but were unable to narrow the deficit further.
Helton went 3-5 with two stolen bases and two runs scored. Cuello was 1-3 with a double, an RBI and a run. Burke drew three walks and drove in a run.

Dimitri Boumis and sophomore
David McSorley each pitched a scoreless inning of relief and didn't allow a hit.
Baseball is back in action with a Friday doubleheader against Mount Union.
