MIDDLETOWN, CT - February 26, 2023 - Chatham Men's Squash competed against Franklin & Marshall this afternoon in the first consolation final at CSA Team Nationals, held at Wesleyan University. The Cougars would go on to win 6-3.
#4 Jared Nalliah and #5 Agustin Carranza both defeated their opponents in a quick three sets, allowing only 18 points and 15 points against, respectively.
#6 Navaneeth Prabhu, #7 Alejandro Cruz, #8 Haidar Jafry, and #9 Abdelrahman Sadek all won 3-1. Cruz and Sadek both won three straight after a first-set loss. Jafry and Prabhu prevailed with two straight wins after being tied 1-1 against their opponents.
#1 Abdul Malik was the sole competitor for the Cougars to play all five sets, and each went point-for-point. By the end, he had totaled 46 points, but F&M's Petr Nohel would pull ahead for the final time.
With the win, the Cougars finish the regular team season 9-6. Next weekend, March 3-5, will feature Chatham's top players in the College Squash Association Individual and Doubles Nationals.
