PITTSBURGH, Pa. - February 21, 2023 - Four-seeded Chatham Men's Basketball earned a 85-76 victory in the PAC Quarterfinals over five-seeded Westminster at the AFC on Tuesday night. The Cougars will advance to play one-seeded W&J in Washington on Thursday night.
With a three-pointer in the second half, senior guard
Marcos Cintron etched his name in the record book, becoming Chatham's all-time leading scorer. The mark was 1,236 career points, previously held by Isaiah Brown.
Cintron led the Cougars with 21 points, including 15 in the second half. Freshman forward
James Thomas notched his second double-double of the season with 10 points on 5-6 shooting and 11 rebounds. Junior guard
Simon Boyer netted 16 points and added six rebounds and five assists.
Chatham took control early, jumping out to a 17-8 lead six minutes into the first half. The Titans cut that lead to 21-19, before the Cougars regained control and took a 42-33 lead into halftime. The two teams traded blows for the entirety of the second half, with Chatham keeping Westminster at an arm's length and maintaining at least a six-point lead throughout.
The Cougars shot 50% (33-66) from the floor and out rebounded the Titans 42-39. Chatham racked up 17 assists to just nine for Westminster.
