STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - January 14, 2023 - Chatham Women's Basketball set a new season low in points allowed Saturday afternoon in its road 65-39 win over Franciscan. With the win, the Cougars are now 10-5 on the season and 7-4 in conference play.
Sophomore guard
Ashlie Louden led the Cougars with 17 points on 6-12 shooting. Louden, who is tied for the team lead in three-pointers made (28) on the season, knocked down three triples in the contest and has hit 13 in her last four games. First year forward
Alyssa Laukus netted 14 points and tallied seven rebounds, four steals and two blocks. Laukus leads the Cougars in rebounds (86) and blocks (21) this season. First year guard
Katie Schaible led the team with eight rebounds and scored 11 points with three three-pointers of her own.
Chatham's defense came to play from the start, allowing just seven points in the first quarter. The offense caught up and put the game out of reach in the second, with the Cougars outscoring the Barons 22-6 in the period to go into halftime with a 35-13 lead. The second half was more of the same, with the Cougars leading by as many as 27 in the fourth quarter.
The Cougars shot 25-64 (39.1%) from the field, compared to just 16-56 (28.6%) for the Barons. Chatham won the rebounding battle 48-42Â and won the turnover battle 26-18. The Cougars scored 33 points off of turnovers to the Barons' 14.
