Squash Falls to Top-Ten UVA Squads

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - January 14, 2023 - Chatham Squash traveled to the University of Virginia today for a matchup against the Cavaliers. UVA's women's team is currently ranked seventh in College Squash and their men's team is ranked fifth.

The women's match concluded first with a score of 9-0 in the hosts' favor. Vasundhra Vasanthan was the sole Cougar to win a set, which was a close 12-10 victory. All other individual matches ended 3-0, with close sets being played by Valentina Della-Maddalena, Sofia Pinto, and Ta'Niya-Marie Nored.

On the Men's side, the Cougars would ultimately fall 9-0 to the #5 hosts with one victory coming from Mohamed Sadek outside of the scoring matches. Muhammad Hassaan Raza had the closest match of the day, ultimately falling 3-2 in an extended-point battle.

Agustin Carranza and Jared Nalliah each stole a set from their respective opponents. Abdelrahman Walid Sadek, Alejandro Cruz, Haidar Jafry, and Lucas Oliveira each played to close sets against top competitors from UVA.

The Cougars are back in action on the road at the Naval Academy from January 27th to 29th against MIT, Western, Navy, and Georgetown.
