SELINSGROVE, Pa. - September 2, 2022 - Chatham Women's Volleyball traveled to Susquehanna University today for game one of the River Hawk Classic. They faced the hosting team, who bested the Cougars 3-1.
The Cougars would win the first set 25-22, seeing crucial kills from sophomore Jessica Taney, first-year Alyssa Leskovac, and juniors Paige Bogozi and Amelia Bogovich to kick off the match with the lead.
These kills would be supplemented by continuing efforts from Taney, as well as points from first-year Abigail Willott and service aces from senior Shaelah Pepperman and junior Meghan Dominek. First-year Sierra Ricci would come up with two service aces of her own to put the nail in Susquehanna's coffin.
The next three sets would go to the River Hawks, all with final scores of 25-17.
Alyssa Leskovac led the Cougar offense with 13 kills, followed by Abigail Willott and junior Delaney O'Shea with six apiece. Sierra Ricci would end her second collegiate game with four service aces, and Shaelah Pepperman would continue her dominance as a setter with 34 assists on the evening.
Defensively, Meghan Dominek led the charge with 25 digs, followed by Leskovac, Pepperman, and Bogozi with 10, eight, and five respectively.
The Cougars continue round robin play in the River Hawk Classic tomorrow, September 3, against UMass Boston and SUNY Brockport at 1 and 3 PM.
