WASHINGTON, Pa. - September 28, 2022 - Chatham Women's Soccer topped Washington & Jefferson 2-1 on the road Wednesday evening. It was the first conference win of the season for the Cougars, who now sit 5-2-2 on the year and 1-0-2 in conference.
It was a tight battle throughout as both teams registered eight shots on goal and the scoreless tie stood for 73 minutes.
That tie was broken by Cougars senior midfielder
Emily Harvey on her fourth goal of the season, which was assisted by graduate defender
Emily Martz.
Chatham found the back of the net again four minutes later when graduate forward
Morgan Anderson placed a shot beautifully in the top right corner for her ninth goal of the season. Anderson's goal was assisted by senior forward
Maggie Toomey.
The Presidents scored in the 84th minute, but it proved to be too little, too late.
Harvey and Anderson each tallied two shots on goal to lead the Cougars. Sophomore goalkeeper
Hannah Ehrlich made seven saves in net.
The Cougars will be on the road in New Wilmington, Pa. this Saturday to take on Westminster. It will be the first meeting between the two since Chatham's double-overtime winner in last season's PAC Championship title game.
