Dominek Hits 1,000 Career Digs in Sweep of Franciscan

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - September 24, 2022 - Chatham University Women's Volleyball hosted Franciscan University in a non-conference matchup. The Cougars would completely dominate the Barons, limiting them to just 16, 12, and 17 points per set respectively.

Of junior libero Meghan Dominek's 14 digs tonight, number 14 would account for her 1,000th career dig. Fourteen was also the team's defensive high, followed by senior Shaelah Pepperman with nine.

Pepperman would also assist on 28 of the Cougars' 38 kills, with five more assists being recorded by Dominek.

First-year Alyssa Leskovac had her usual night, racking up a team-high 18 kills. Sophomore Jessica Taney and junior Amelia Bogovich were next in line, with eight and seven kills respectively.

First-year Claire Dusek had an impressive outing at the service line, tallying a team-high four service aces. She would serve for eight straight Cougar points in the second set, damaging the Barons beyond repair. Bogovich and Dominek would record another three and two service aces for the team.

Blocks were plentiful tonight as well, with Pepperman, Taney, Leskovac, and junior Baileigh Horan each recorded assisted blocks. Horan would have the lone solo block as well.

With the win, the Cougars improve to 6-6 overall with conference play on the horizon. Their next matchup is at home against Saint Vincent on Tuesday, September 27th.
