PITTSBURGH, Pa. - September 1, 2022 - The Chatham Men's Soccer team opened their season at home Thursday night against Marietta College. The Cougars scored twice in the second half to take the lead, but settled for a 2-2 draw with the Pioneers.
The Cougars started out of the gate slowly, as they were outshot 8-1 in the first half and surrendered the opening goal. However, they battled back with second-half goals from freshman midfielder
Pearse Bialowas and senior forward
Leandro Nasso in the 57th minute and 74th minute, respectivley. Juniata's Sam Holthaus knotted the game back up in the 84th minute to earn the draw.
The draw came despite the Pioneers holding a commanding 12-1 advantage in corner kicks over the span of the match and outshooting the Cougars 19-4.
There were nine yellow cards issued in the match, with five to Marietta and four to Chatham.
The Cougars next match is on the road against Baldwin Wallace on Saturday afternoon.
