Cougars Dominate Tomcats on Senior Day

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – April 30, 2022 – The Chatham University men's lacrosse team showed out in its final regular season game of 2022, beating up on Thiel in a pivotal PAC regular season finale 19-8.
 
Prior to the start of the contest, Chatham honored its 11 seniors. This included Charles Bradsher, Quentin Clarke, Ryan Dobson, Shane Gaglione, Nicholas Guaglione, Gregory Hensley, Elijah Ko, Andrew Mattingly, Michael Porreca, Gilchrist Quansah and Kyle Rullan.
 
After allowing the game's first two goals, Chatham ended up on a 12-goal streak that put the game out of reach by halftime. The 12 goals were evenly distributed between the first and second quarters, with Rullan and first-year Paul Freyre scoring four points on three goals and an assist each. Two of Rullan's goals were scored with a man up.
 
Also getting in on the scoring action in the first half were Guaglione, senior Adam Bleess, junior Riley Lewis, and the first career goal by first-year Liam Behnke. Classmate Rei O'Brien handed out three assists while Ethan Rinker also had a helper.
 
While the second half was more competitive, the game was never in doubt for the Cougars. Chatham built up a lead that ballooned to as large as 13 goals. When all was said and done, 10 different Cougars scored at least one goal and 13 had at least one point. Also getting in on the scoring were graduate Patrick Brunner, first-year Justin Cook, Mattingly, and sophomore Isaac Joshi.
 
For the game, Rullan led all players with five goals and six points, connecting on five of his six shots on goal. Freyre had a hat trick while Bleess, Guaglione and Brunner had two goals apiece. For the game, Chatham outshot Thiel 54-34, the fourth time the Cougars eclipsed the 50-shot plateau in conference play. Gaglione had a .611 save percentage with 11 saves, while Hensley made his first two stops of the season.
 
The Cougars' regular season record for 2022 is 6-10 overall and 4-3 in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.
