PITTSBURGH, Pa. - April 14, 2022 - Chatham University Women's Lacrosse hosted new Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opponent Grove City College this evening. Grove City's scoring was too much for the Cougars to overcome, and the Wolverines came out on top 15-8.
Senior attacker Brielle Rapsas would score a quick goal to start the game, which would be the Cougars' only score of the quarter. At the other end, junior goalie Aria Dietrich would face 14 shots, stopping five of them.
The second quarter would see more numbers from the Cougars, with goals by first-year Samantha Beall-Dennell and junior Bailey Donofrio, both assisted by senior Brielle Rapsas. The Cougar defense also limited the Wolverines to just three shots on goal.
Grove City would turn up their offensive intensity again in the third, netting four goals. Chatham, on the other hand, would score once. Junior Phallon Kilduff supplied the lone free position goal for the Cougars.
Chatham would have their highest scoring quarter in the fourth with four goals, limiting Grove City to just one once again. Phallon Kilduff was responsible for half, while Stephanie Walter and Brielle Rapsas combined for the other two.
Kilduff's hat trick led the team in goals, while Rapsas led the game in points with four off of two goals and two assists. First-year Samantha Beall-Dennell had a game-high ten ground balls and Stephanie Walter logged five draw controls.
Aria Dietrich finished the game with eight saves.
With the loss, the Cougars now stand at 3-1 in conference. They look to get back in the PAC win column on Saturday, April 23rd at Franciscan.
