CLERMONT, Fla. – March 1, 2022 – Chatham could not rebound in its second game of the day, falling in five innings to Rosemont 19-8.
Chatham got on the board in the first inning after a fielder's choice groundout turned into the first run of the contest, but the Ravens responded with the next 13 runs, three in the first and 10 in the third. The Cougars got one more run in the fourth on another fielder's choice to make the score 13-2, but another big Raven inning made the deficit 19-2.
Chatham still went down while giving up a good fight in the fifth. A fielder's choice and an error were the first two runs, then Chatham got an RBI double by junior
Lauren Haak, an RBI bunt by junior
Alyssa Hoffman and a two-RBI base knock by sophomore
Savanna Ahlborn. The scoring stopped there, as did the game with a 19-8 final.
The Cougars got 10 base hits across the lineup, including a 3/3 day from Hoffman and a 2/4 tally from sophomore
Mackenzie Dunn, with two runs scored by the latter. The Cougars used three pitchers, with Dunn going 2.0 innings, senior
Emily Nay pitching 1.0 inning and taking the loss, and first-year
Madison Fisher finishing the final 0.2 innings.
The Cougars have the day off tomorrow before returning to the diamond for a double header on Thursday, March 3 with a 12:30 first pitch against Neumann and a 5:00 start vs. Regis.
