MEDFORD, Mass. - February 26, 2022 - Chatham University Women's Squash finished their team season this afternoon with two matches against Mount Holyoke College and Vassar College. The Cougars fell to Mount Holyoke 8-1 before taking a 6-2 loss to Vassar.
In the Mount Holyoke matchup, sophomore Valentina Della Maddalena was the sole Cougar to win individual sets or an individual match. She defeated Mount Holyoke's Maria Durocher 3-0, winning sets 11-1, 11-2, and 11-6 in quick succession, the match lasting just 13 minutes.
Sofia Ramos Fortanelli would accumulate a team-high 21 points after Della Maddalena, followed by Banana Phuyal with ten, Yushi Zhang and Farzeen Sheikh with nine, and Yukta Rana and Giovanna Gibson with five each.
Against Vassar, the Cougars would improve their score to 6-2, this time with Della Maddalena and Ramos Fortanelli both beating their opponents 3-0.
