PITTSBURGH, Pa. - November 16, 2022 - Chatham Women's Basketball improved to 3-0 on the year and 1-0 in PAC play with its 72-51 win over Waynesburg at home Wednesday evening. This marks the second straight season the Cougars have started 3-0.
Sophomore guard
Aurielle Brunner had 16 points, nine steals and seven assists, leading the team in each category. Sophomore guards
Zelimar Rodriguez and
Ashlie Louden also scored in double figures, with 15 and 10 points, respectivley. First year guard
Katie Schaible led the team with seven rebounds.
Waynesburg started the game on a 7-2 run, but Chatham countered and their up-tempo style quickly became too much for the Yellow Jackets to handle. The Cougars went into half with a 16-point lead that increased to as many as 28 in the fourth quarter.
The Cougars forced 32 turnovers and only five Yellow Jackets were able to get on the score sheet. Waynesburg won the rebound battle 50-45 but were held to just 17.6% shooting (3-17) from three-point range.
Women's Basketball will return to action on Saturday as they play away at Penn State Behrend for their first road game of the year.
