No. 5 Cougars Defeat No. 4 Bearcats, Advance to PAC Semifinal

LATROBE, Pa. - November 1, 2022 - Chatham Volleyball earned a fifth place seed in this year's Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament, drawing fourth-seeded Saint Vincent. The Cougars would put on their best performance of the season to knock out the Bearcats in a 3-1 match (25-21, 26-24, 23-25, 25-23).

In their last meeting, Saint Vincent would beat Chatham 3-1.  With their season on the line, Chatham was not willing to lose again, and their efforts tonight reflected that.

Chatham came out strong, taking the first two sets in a combination of aggressive offense and smart defense. Saint Vincent would fight back for a third-set victory, and even took several leads in the fourth set.

The Cougars held strong, however, with junior Meghan Dominek registering a service ace that would put them two points away from a semifinal bid. A tying point from Saint Vincent would make things interesting, but was not enough to keep sophomore Jessica Taney and first-year Alyssa Leskovac from finding the floor two more times.

Junior Amelia Bogovich and Leskovac were unstoppable this evening, registering 26 and 25 kills, respectively. Leskovac would also lead the team in aces with three and individual points with 28.

Senior Shaelah Pepperman was essential in those efforts, assisting on 61 of the Cougars' 75 kills. Pepperman's 61 assists are not only a career-high, but are also the most in a four-set Division III match this season.

Junior libero Meghan Dominek commanded the floor defensively, tallying a career-high 50 digs in the process. Her 50 digs in four sets is the most in Division III this year.

The Cougars are taking the big win and NCAA Division III records with them to #1 Thiel on Thursday, November 3rd for a 7 PM semifinal matchup.
