Box Score STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - October 11, 2022 - Chatham Volleyball traveled to Steubenville this evening for a PAC matchup with Franciscan University. The Barons would get off to a hot start, winning the first two sets 25-22 and 25-19 respectively before Chatham took the third and fourth by scores of 25-16 and 25-21. The fifth set would go point-for-point until the Barons took their match-ending two point lead.
Senior Shaelah Pepperman would notch the Cougars' first point of the day with a service ace before first-years Alyssa Leskovac and Sierra Ricci secured two kills and an ace. Juniors Baileigh Horan, Amelia Bogovich, and Aaleyiah Williams would all turn on the offense, but unfortunately the Barons pulled ahead just in time.
Set two was introduced by a kill from sophomore Jessica Taney, who was followed by Leskovac and Bogovich. The Cougars would work with as much as a five-point lead before the Barons tightened up their defense and pulled ahead once again with aggressive net play.
Chatham was able to turn the tables in convincing fashion for the third set thanks to senior Rylee Ritko, junior Meghan Dominek, Bogovich, Williams, and Horan. The fourth set, though ending with a closer score, was similarly played by the visiting Cougars. Williams, Horan, and Ritko were quick to find some open court to take an early lead, which was supplemented by Pepperman, Taney, and Bogovich.
Fifth set forced, Bogovich, Williams, and Taney would set the Cougars up with a small lead. Franciscan would ultimately force errors before a final kill ended the set 15-13 in favor of the home team.
Amelia Bogovich led the Cougars with 21 kills and six aces on the night. Meghan Dominek recorded a game-high 40 digs defensively, and Shaelah Pepperman set up 49 Cougar kills.
Chatham now stands at an even 2-2 in conference play and 9-9 overall. Their next contest is at home against Thiel for their Dig Pink game on Thursday, October 13.
