BETHANY, W.Va. – January 31, 2022 – The Chatham men's basketball team continued its winning ways with an 87-61 road victory at Bethany Monday evening. The win improves Chatham's record to 14-1 overall and 9-1 in PAC play.
Despite the lopsided 26-point victory, the first half didn't come easy for Chatham. The Bison and Cougars traded small leads early on, but Chatham ended the first half on a 12-3 run in the final 5:00, putting the Cougars' lead at 45-35.
In the second half, the defense stepped up. The 26 points allowed in the second half were the fewest given up by the Cougars all season, as Chatham cruised to the sixth largest margin of victory in program history.
The Cougars were very consistent in both halves shooting-wise. They finished 47% from the field and just under 40% from three, making 15 long-range shots. Senior
Malik Potter scored a game-high 25 points on seven threes, including 16 points coming in the first half. Sophomore
Simon Boyer continued his steady increase in points by scoring a season-high 20. Senior
Ben Pollock rounded out the double-digit scoring with 12 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks.
Chatham returns home for a rematch with Westminster at 7:30 on Wednesday, February 2.
