Box Score READING, Pa. - January 29, 2022 - Chatham Women's Hockey played their second game of the regular season series against Alvernia University today on the road. Despite the game being a low-scoring affair, the Cougars would ultimately come out on top with a 3-2 victory.
The first period would see just one goal, courtesy of sophomore Cameron Carmody at the halfway point of the period. She was assisted by classmates Lauren Carmody and Kaylynn Savoy.
The sophomore class struck again in the second, this time with a power play goal from Ally Nolan with an assist to Trinity Antonio. At the other end, senior goaltender Katy Reed would have to end off 13 Golden Wolves scoring attempts, adding to her five saves made in the first period.
Nolan would come up big once again in the third for what would end up being the game-winner. She was assisted by junior Brooke Almond on the power play yet again. Alvernia, however, would come back with two quick goals, one on the power play. Their attempts at a comeback were unsuccessful as the Cougars rolled to the series sweep.
The crucial conference win now puts the Cougars at 9-7. Chatham returns to play next Friday, February 4th in Shadyside at the Hunt Armory. Puck drop is at 7 PM.
