PITTSBURGH, Pa. - January 29, 2022 - Chatham Women's Basketball hosted Geneva this afternoon in a PAC matchup. The Cougars kept their momentum from their past three conference wins, earning their fourth straight today by a score of 83-49.
Junior Riley D'Angelo set the pace for the game within the first minute, nailing a three. She was followed by classmate Sierra McClain with the same result just minutes later. Graduate student Julianna Skowron, senior Aliyah Labriola, and first-year Aurielle Brunner would score their first points of the game off of jumpers before first-year Emily Durkee hit her first of six threes.
In the second quarter, McClain would show up for two straight three-point field goals, expanding the Cougars' lead to 12. Graduates Brittani Smith and Skowron would add more points of their own, followed by two straight threes from Durkee again. For good measure, D'Angelo ended the first half in the same manner she started - with a deep three.
At the top of the third, Julianna Skowron would reach double-digit points with back-to-back jumpers, followed by classmate Maddy Grennes. Aurielle Brunner and Sierra McClain teamed up for a pair of threes to break the 50-point mark, after which Skowron, Smith, D'Angelo, and Durkee continued their assault on the net.
The fourth quarter saw considerable bench points from the Cougars. First-year Zelimar Rodriguez hit a jumper straight away, followed by a three from senior Kelli Jenkins that was assisted by first-year Abby Marzina. Durkee was also in the mix with her final two three-pointers, finishing with a game- and career- high 22 points.
With the 34-point victory, the Cougars improve to 12-4 overall and 6-3 in conference. Chatham will travel to Bethany on Monday, January 31 for their first of two matchups with the Bison.
