ROCHESTER, N.Y. – January 29, 2021 – Junior
Andrew Warhoftig's two goal effort was all the offense Chatham could muster Wednesday evening as the Cougars fell 5-2 to Nazareth. The loss drops Chatham to 5-8-2 overall and 4-4-2 in UCHC play.
Warhoftig opened the scoring late in the first period after getting an assist from sophomore
Carson Grainer. The hosting Golden Flyers went on to score the next three goals before Warhoftig cut the deficit in half with a late second period goal, assists by first-years
Zack Conner and
Matthew Doyle. Nazareth scored twice in the third to put the game away for good.
The game was a defensive one, with both teams combining for 48 shots on goal. Nazareth held the slim edge 25-23. Both teams had power play goals, but the major difference was face-off wins, with the Golden Flyers winning 45 and the Cougars winning just 24. Senior goalie
Ricardo Gonzalez made 20 saves in a losing effort.
Chatham will make the two-hour trek east to take on No. 3 Utica. Puck drops at 3:00.
