LANCASTER, Pa. - January 21, 2022 - Chatham University Squash had a successful first day on their trip out East against Haverford College. On the Men's side, all eight Cougars won. For the Women, two Cougars beat their respective opponents.
Sophomores Sofia Ramos Fortanelli and Valentina Della Maddalena dominated their opponents. Ramos Fortanelli won her sets 11-4, 11-0, and 11-4 yet again. Della Maddalena would come back from a 10-12 first set to defeat Haverford's Isabelle Johnson 11-5, 11-5, and 11-7.
The Men's team showed no mercy, not allowing a single played set to go to the Fords, though they forfeited one match due to injury. All sets but one were won at the 11-point mark, save for Mohamed Sadek's 16-14 battle.
Sadek was joined by Vinicius Ennius Muniz, Alaaeldin Abdelkhalik, Lucas Oliveira, Jared Nalliah, Abdul Malik, Owais Rasheed, and newcomer Haidar Jafry in the winner's circle.
The Cougars continue their trip tomorrow at Franklin and Marshall College against Bowdoin.
