SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - January 15, 2022 - Chatham University's Squash teams began their first day of competition at Mount Holyoke College against Connecticut College, Wesleyan University, and the hosts themselves.
The Men's squad, having only played one match against Wesleyan, swept the Cardinals 9-0. Abdul Malik, Augustin Carranza, Jared Nalliah, Owais Rasheed, Lucas Oliveira, Mohamed Sadek, and Haidar Jafry all beat their respective opponents 3-0. Vinicius Ennius Muniz defeated his opponent 3-1, coming back from a first set loss to win three straight.
The Women played three matches today, winning a collective five sets. Against Connecticut College, Sofia Ramos Fortanelli and Valentina Della Maddalena both won 3-0. Both would go on to sweep their next matches against Wesleyan in game two, and Della Maddelena would win her third match of the day 3-0 against Mount Holyoke.
The Cougars conclude their New England trip tomorrow, January 16th, against Hamilton in the same location.
