Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Cougars Bring Home Pair of PAC Wins

LATROBE, Pa. - September 25, 2021 - Chatham Volleyball traveled to Saint Vincent College today for a trimatch with the Bearcats and the Geneva College Golden Tornadoes. The Cougars swept Saint Vincent (25-20, 25-18, 25-21) before going four sets with Geneva (25-11, 25-12, 23-25, 25-22) for another win.

In game one, Saint Vincent took an early lead, but Chatham did not let it last long. Chatham scored seven straight points to take the lead, shutting down Saint Vincent's offensive confidence for the remainder of the match.

The Cougars collected 37 kills in game one, with 12 coming from senior Emily Richie and nine each from sophomore Paige Bogozi and junior Rylee Ritko. Sophomore Amelia Bogovich contributed three aces and junior Shaelah Pepperman added two along with 37 assists. Graduate Macy King led the team in blocks with four while Bogozi and classmate Bailiegh Horan supplied two each.

On defense, the Cougars limited the Bearcats to 59 points thanks to Meghan Dominek's 22 digs and the combined 34 from Ritko and Bogozi.

In game two, the Cougars stole two quick sets from the Golden Tornadoes, 25-11 and 25-12. Geneva, responding to Chatham's overpowering offense, bounced back in set three, causing a back-and-forth point battle before eventually pulling ahead by two to complete the set.

The Golden Tornadoes gained the early lead in the fourth as well, taking advantage of Chatham going into their seventh set of the day. After a well-placed timeout, the Cougars rallied back to tie the game at 20 thanks to the serves of Amelia Bogovich and key kills from Macy King and Shaelah Pepperman. Rylee Ritko would come up big with two kills in a row to end the game.

Emily Richie led the Cougars in kills once again in game two with 16, followed by Macy King with 11 and Rylee Ritko with ten, including three of the last four Chatham kills. By the end of game two, the Cougars had accumulated 92 total kills.

Shaelah Pepperman added another 41 assists in game two with Meghan Dominek adding four more. Ritko also led the Cougars in digs with 30; Dominek trailing with 26 and Pepperman with 20.

With the pair of wins, the Cougars advance to 9-3 overall and 5-1 in conference. The Cougars return to play on Thursday, September 30th at La Roche before facing Grove City at home in another PAC matchup on October 6th.
