Chatham Earns Straight-Set Win Over Mount Aloysius

MEADVILLE, Pa. - September 18, 2021 - Chatham Volleyball traveled to Allegheny College for their third and final game of the Allegheny Invitational. Chatham defeated Mount Aloysius College 3-0 after sets of 25-13, 27-25, and 25-21.

The Cougars dominated set one, leaving no room for any Mustang offense. Junior Rylee Ritko, graduate Macy King, and senior Emily Richie had control of the floor, racking up early points that would later be added to by sophomore Paige Bogozi and Shaelah Pepperman.

At 19-13 in favor of the Cougars, Bogozi served for six straight points to end the set.

Mount Aloysius bounced back in set two, even taking the lead in the final points of the set. Chatham, however, tightened up their defense and were able to tie then win the game thanks to the offensive efforts of Richie, King, and Pepperman.

Set three saw a nine-point run from the Cougars behind the service of sophomore Amelia Bogovich, pulling the Cougars out. Of a two-point deficit. The Mounties, stunned by Chatham's offensive surge, were unable to recover, and Chatham's 25th point came in the form of a service error.

Rylee Ritko was the kill leader of the day with 12, followed by Emily Richie and Macy King with 10 each. King also led the Cougars in blocks with five. Amelia Bogovich had six aces, supplemented by three more from Meghan Dominek, who also led the team in digs with 13. Shaelah Pepperman finished the game with 28 assists, three blocks, and two aces.

The Cougars will take the time to recover from their three-game weekend before their next PAC match on Tuesday, September 21st at Thiel College.
