PITTSBURGH, Pa. - April 3, 2021 - Chatham Women's Hockey's historic season came to an end this evening after a hard-fought 4-1 loss to Nazareth. Chatham made it to the semifinal round of the championship tournament for the first time ever, earning hosting rights in both rounds thanks to a third place regular-season finish.
Nazareth's Nikolle Van Stralen did it all herself, scoring both the first goal of the game at 10:56 in the first and the game winner in the next period.
The Golden Flyers were up by three heading into the third period, but the Cougars did not give up their offensive drive.
On the Cougar power play, sophomore Brooke Almond had an impressive keep at the blue line, dishing it off to Lauren Carmody who would score the sole Chatham goal of the game.
Chatham had 16 shots in the third period, but Nazareth's Adrianna Brehm held strong in net. Nazareth would score an empty netter with two minutes left to round out their win.
The Cougars finished with a program-high seven conference wins, putting them over .500. Over the 13-game season, Chatham scored 32 goals, seven of which were on the powerplay for a percentage of .175.
