GROVE CITY, Pa. – March 30, 2021 – The Chatham volleyball team traveled to Grove City on Tuesday night and fell in three sets to the Wolverines. The loss puts Chatham's record at 3-5, 2-5 in conference play.
Chatham had its best hitting performance in the first set at .119. However, the Wolverines were at a torrid .325, also their best hitting performance of the match. Grove City ended up taking the first set 25-17.
In the second set, Chatham took a pair of three-point leads early on. Grove City would tie the score multiple times but pull away late in the closest set of the evening 25-19.
In the third set, both teams had their least successful hitting statistics. However, the Cougars were in the negative percentiles at -.073. Grove City ended up taking the set 25-18 to complete the sweep.
Grove City led in all major categories, with the most decisive advantage coming in the blocks. The Wolverines had nine total blocks, while Chatham could only muster one.
Leading the way in terms of points was junior
Emily Richie. She had 10 kills and 12 digs. Sophomore
Rylee Ritko had a team-best 13 digs. First-year libero
Meghan Dominek recorded the only two service aces of the match and sophomore
Shaelah Pepperman handed out 24 assists.
Chatham's final regular season game is next Wednesday, April 7 at the AFC when it plays host to Washington & Jefferson College at 7:00 p.m.
