Box Score READING, Pa. - March 19, 2021 - Women's Hockey secured their third straight win this season after defeating Alvernia 5-2.
After an even first fifteen minutes of play, first-year Lauren Carmody got the Chatham offense flowing, assisted by classmate Ariel Garbin.
It would take another ten minutes for the Cougars to expand their lead. Sophomore Brooke Almond netted her second goal of the season within the first six minutes of the second period, thanks to a feed from linemate Allison Corser-James. Alvernia would answer back before the end of the period, decreasing the goal deficit to one heading into the third.
Corser-James took the reigns within minutes of the period's start, finding the back of the net off of a pass from senior Sydney Collins to secure what would later become the game-winning goal. First-year Kaylynn Savoy followed up with an insurance goal just two minutes later before Alvernia scored their second and final goal of the night. Corser-James scored one final goal, short-handed, to leave the Golden Wolves past the point of return.
Senior Sydney Collins had a game-high nine shots on goal, followed by linemates Allison Corser-James and Brooke Almond with eight each. Corser-James and sophomore defenseman Isabella Siren both finished the game at +3.
In the circle, first-year Cameron Carmody won a game-high 19 face-offs, followed by Collins with 14 and junior Grace Pavlovich with seven.
Junior goaltender Katy Reed made nine saves, helped by Siren who led the Cougars in blocks with six.
Chatham is back in action against Alvernia on home ice tomorrow, March 20th, at 4 PM to round out the series.
