GENEVA, NY - November 6, 2021 - Chatham University's Women's and Men's Squash teams competed in their first matches of the 2021-22 season earlier today. The Men finished 2-0 and the Women finished 0-2.

In the match against Denison, sophomores Sofia Ramos Fortanelli and Valentina Della Maddalena would battle their way to the only two wins for the Cougars in the 4-2 final. On the Men's side, all nine Cougars would defeat their individual opponents, resulting in another shutout victory over Denison.

Against William Smith, Ramos Fortanelli would win the sole match, competing against another top Mexican National player. Della Maddalena would have a tough match against the Herons' star Laila Selim, but ultimately be defeated.

The Men's squad had an impressive 8-1 win over Hobart later in the day, with great performances from first-years Lucas Oliveira, Jared Nalliah, and Augustin Carranza. Chatham's other individual wins would come from Abdul Malik, Luis Moncada Gonzalez, Alaaeldin Abdelkhalik, Mohamed Sadek, Vinicius Ennius Muniz, and Cristopher Tejada.

The Cougars return to play next Friday, November 12th when they travel to Philadelphia for matches against Drexel, Penn, Dickinson, and Franklin and Marshall.
