Chatham’s Dominating Offense Results in 20-4 Victory Over Mount Aloysius

CRESSON, Pa. - Mar. 10, 2020 - The Cougars (1-1, 0-0) were back on the turf to take on Mount Aloysius (1-2, 1-1) in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, March 10th. Chatham recently picked up their first win of the season, taking down Delaware Valley in a 14-2 victory on Saturday, March 7th.

Things started off quick for the Cougars, as they jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after a goal by first year Selena Justus 31 seconds into the game. They would string together five more goals within the first ten minutes of the match to take a commanding 6-1 lead with 19:58 left in the first. Their offense continued to click further into the half, with them taking a 9-2 lead after sophomore Tifani McElhose found the back of the net with 10:08 to go in the first. The Cougars tacked on two more goals to their score, taking an 11-3 lead into halftime over Mount Aloysius.

Chatham never took their foot off the gas, as they opened the second half with three goals in the first five minutes of play. They would take a 16-3 lead after sophomore Kerry Carr scored one of her team high seven goals on the day to give the Cougars a 13 point advantage. Their score would increase to as many as 20 before the final buzzer sounded, giving Chatham a 20-4 victory for their second win of the season.

Carr lead the Cougars with seven goals, while Justus and grad student Anna Prendergast each tallied four goals on the day for Chatham. Sophomore Brielle Rapsas collected a team high nine points coming from three goals and six assists.

Chatham is back in action Saturday, March 14th as they will travel to Adrian, MI to face off against Adrian College.
