PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Feb. 27, 2020 - The Cougars (17-9, 11-5) were back in the den for the second round of the Playoffs as they played host to the Golden Tornadoes of Geneva College (13-13, 8-8) on Thursday, February 27th. Chatham recently took down Waynesburg on Tuesday, February 25th in the first round of the playoffs to advance to the semi-finals.
Geneva jumped all over Chatham early on, opening the first half on an 11-2 run after Joel Stutz of Geneva made a pair of free throws. The Cougars shooting struggles continued further into the half, as they found themselves down 26-13 with 10:09 left until halftime. The lead would extend to as many 23 in the half, but the Cougars started to chip away at the lead. They closed the half out on a 10-0 run to cut the Golden Tornadoes lead to 12 after first year Elijah Sutton connected on a jump shot as the buzzer sounded for halftime.
The second half opened with Chatham keeping the difference below 15, as they trailed 51-39 after Sutton scored another jumper to keep the difference at 12. Geneva started to pull away with 6:30 left in the game, as they built their lead up to 24 after Ethan Moose scored 2 of his 13 points to make the score 77-53. Chatham was unable to mount a comeback, as they ultimately fell to Geneva 91-63 for their 10th loss of the season.
Sutton led the Cougars with 15 points while junior Malik Potter added 10 points himself. Chatham finished the season with a 17-10 overall record and an 11-5 conference record.
