NEW YORK, N.Y. - Jan, 19, 2020 - Chatham (11-4) was back in action Sunday, January 19th as they took on Bates College for their second match in New York. The Cougars were coming off a win against Fordham University on Friday, January 17th by a score of 8-1.
The Cougars came out of the gates swinging, as first years Abdul Malik Khan and Owais Rasheed won their first two matches by scores of 3-0 and 3-1 respectively. First year Mohammed Sadek came out victorious in the third match for Chatham, as they would hold a commanding 3-0 lead over Bates.
After first year Alaaeldin Abdelkhalik dropped the fourth match in straight sets, sophomore Vinicius Muniz would give the Cougars another victory after winning his match 3-1 making the overall score 4-1. Bates College came storming back after going down three early on in the match. Bates put together a string of victories to tie the match up at 4-4 heading into the deciding set.
Chatham would ultimately fall short in the final match, losing 5-4 to Bates. The Cougars are back on the road as they travel to face off against Dickinson College on Sunday, February 2nd.
