NEW YORK CITY, NY. - Jan. 17, 2020 - The Cougars (10-4) were back on the courts Friday, January 17th as they traveled to New York City to face off against Fordham University. Chatham came into the match riding a three game losing streak after losing all three matches in last week's tournament in Lancaster, PA.
Chatham dominated the match from the beginning, winning the first three matches in straight sets to go up 3-0. They continued to roll as first year Alaaeldin Abdelkhalik Gonam won the fourth match 11-3, 11-9, and 11-4 respectively followed by two more wins by sophomore Vinicius Muniz and senior Cris Tejada to extend the lead to 6-0.
The Cougars would hold on taking the match 8-1 over Fordham for their 11th win of the season. This win would snap their three match losing streak, getting their first win since December 7th.
Chatham will stay in the Empire State over the weekend, as they would travel to Brooklyn, NY for a match with Bates College.
