Cougars Continue to Struggle Losing Two Straight on Day Two of Tournament

LANCASTER, Pa. - Jan. 12, 2020 - Chatham (10-2) opened up the second day of the Dickinson tournament with two matches, first against Hamilton College followed by a match with Franklin and Marshall. The Cougars fell to Western Ontario on the first day of the tournament for only their second loss of the season.

The Cougars would open the match with a win from first year Abdul Malik Khan in straight sets to give them a 1-0 lead. First year Owais Rasheed, who recently joined the team after the holiday break, took to the court for Chatham in the second match. The match would feature three matchballs by Rasheed, but he was unable to convert them into points as he would fall 3-2 in five games. The Cougars would follow up the loss with three straight match wins, going 3-1, 3-2, and 3-0 respectively. Hamilton would storm back with five straight match wins to take the match 5-4.

Chatham would next face off against the 12th ranked team in the country, Franklin and Marshall. The Cougars seemed to run out of gas, as they would fall to Franklin and Marshall 9-0 for their third loss of the weekend. Malik Khan was the only one to win a game as he would drop his match 3-1, all other matches finished 3-0.

The Cougars are back in action on Friday, January 17th as they travel to the Big Apple to take on Fordham University.
