Cougars earn program's first-ever win 3-0 vs Alfred

ERIE, PA. – Sept. 1, 2019 – The Chatham University men's soccer team took the field against Alfred this afternoon in the consolation game of the Penn State Behren Tournament. The Cougars pulled off a 3-0 shut out victory over the Saxons, earning their first-ever win for the program. This also marks head coach Keith Danley's first career win. 

HISTORY IS MADE (AGAIN)
This win marks the first win for the men's soccer program as well as head coach Keith Danley's first career win. Congratulations! 

GOOOOOOOOOOOAL
First-year Edgar Interiano-Lemus from Clevend, Texas scored the first goal and game winner just nine minutes into the game. The goal game off a cross from first-year Ryan Tahbaz, earning Tahbaz his second assist of the year. First-year Jacobi Garrett went one v one with the goalie to score his first career goal at 17:43. Interiano-Lemus scored the third and final goal at 34:15 when he dribbled through the defense to beat the goalie one v one. 

BACKLINE STRONG
The Chatham defense did not allow a single shot on goal in the entire 90 minutes, making first-year Mazatl Torres-Perez's life easier in net. Torres-Perez recorded his first career shutout in today's victory. 

COUGARS IN COMMAND
The Cougars had complete control of the game. Chatham outshot Alfred 15-5, including nine shots on frame. The Cougars played aggressive, holding a 12-8 foul advantage over the Saxons.
