PITTSBURGH, Pa. – April 20th, 2019 – The Chatham University softball team sweep Thiel in a PAC double-header matchup Saturday afternoon. Game one resulted in a sweep 5-0 and another win in game 2 9-7.
RECORDS: Chatham now stands at 11-19 (5-9 PAC) while the Tomcats stand at 15-23 (8-6 PAC).
WHAT'S NEXT: The Cougars face Washington and Jefferson at West Field Saturday, April 27th in a PAC double-header matchup starting at 1:00 p.m.
GAME ONE (Chatham 5, Thiel 0)
AT THE PLATE: The Cougars tallied nine hits.
Marissa Wightman went 2-for-3 at the plate, adding one RBI.
Howell added three RBIs and scored one run for the Cougars.
Cassandra Gray went 2-for-3 at the plate, scoring two runs.
First-year
Alyson Adams scored two runs.
IN THE CIRCLE: Madison Howell tossed 7.0 innings, scattering three hits and striking out three.
GAME TWO (Chatham 9, Thiel 7)
AT THE PLATE: The Cougar offense enjoyed 11 hits. Howell went 3-for-5 at the plate, adding three RBIs and scoring one homerun for the Cougars.
First-year
Alexis Butler went 2-for-3 at the plate, with two RBIs.
Gray also added two RBIs for the Cougars.
Swedberg went 2-for-2 at the plate.
IN THE CIRCLE: Julie Swedberg pitched 3.0 innings, scattering five hits. Howell came in to pitch for relief.
