Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa. – FEBRUARY 21st, 2019 – The Chatham University men's basketball team won a nail biter against St. Vincent 54-51 to advance to the PAC Championship Finals on Thursday night. This is the first time in program history the Cougars are headed to the PAC Championship finals. The Cougars broke the Bearcats undefeated home streak, which was 14-0. With the win, Chatham improves to 18-9 overall. Chatham will travel to New Wilmington, Pa. to take on the Westminster Titans on Saturday. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 pm.
Two Cougars scored in double figures to lead the team to victory. Senior
Will Sandherr scored a team-high 25 points. Sandherr was hot from the foul line, shooting 6-7. Senior
Marc Wells added 10 points. Wells recorded seven rebounds and two blocks.
Anthony Bomar led the team with five assists. Bomar chipped in seven points and went 3-5 from the field. Senior
Isaiah Brown recorded five points and one assist. Junior
Buzz Walker added two rebounds and one steal tonight.
At the end of the first half, Chatham held a 23-22 advantage. The second half, both the Cougars and Bearcats went back and forth. With one minute remaining, the Cougars were up 52-48. Walker would hit a fastbreak layup with 42 seconds to go, adding the Cougars lead to six. The Bearcats answered back immediately with a three-pointer to make the score 54-51. Sandherr went to the line with 02 seconds left in the game but couldn't finish, giving Chatham the 54-51 victory.
