Cougars playoff hopes come to an end as they tumble against Thiel 75-70

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa. – FEBRUARY 20th, 2019 – The Chatham University women's basketball team's playoff hopes came to an end tonight with a 75-70 loss versus the eighth seeded Thiel tonight. 

The Sieg sisters put up 21 points a piece in tonight's loss. Graduate student Megan Sieg added four rebounds, four assists and three steals. Senior Katie Sieg finished with four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Senior Ashley McClain chipped in ten points, two rebounds and one assist. First-year Kaitlyn Fertig recorded eight points, four rebounds, two blocks, two assists and two steals. Junior Sierra Ungerman shot 3-for-3, with a team-high nine rebounds. 

The Cougars held onto the lead until a Tomcat three-pointer gave Thiel a one point advantage with three minutes remaining in the first half. Once Thiel grabbed the lead, Chatham was unable to recover. The Cougars would cut a 15 point deficit to just three with five seconds remaining in the game. Two free throws by the Tomcats would secure the 75-70 victory over Chatham. 
 
Congratulations to the women's basketball team on a great season! Chatham finished 12-14 overall and 8-8 in the PAC. This is the first time in program history that Chatham has been the fourth seed and has earned the first round bye in the PAC playoffs.
