WESLEYAN, WV. - Dec 7, 2019 - Chatham (8-0) traveled on the road this past weekend Friday, December 6th and Saturday, December 7th to take on both Wesleyan College and Vassar College in a two-day tournament at Wesleyan. The Cougars were riding an eight game winning streak heading into the tournament, most recently taking down the Hoyas of Georgetown University.
In the opening round Chatham faced off against Wesleyan, with the Cougars jumping out ahead to a quick 4-0 lead four games into the match. In the fifth game, first year Cris Tejada would fall early, going down 11-8 in the first two matches. Tejada was able to battle his way back in the third winning 11-2, but would ultimately fall in a down to the wire matchup 13-11. The rest of the way proved to be all Wesleyan, as Chatham would suffer their first loss of the season by a final of 5-4.
Chatham looked to get back to their winning ways on Saturday, December 7th as they took on Vassar College. They would again jump out ahead of Vassar, going ahead 3-0 in the match after a game three win by sophomore Vinicius Muniz by scores of 11-5, 11-4, and 11-2 respectively. Chatham would take the next two games to go up 5-0, and eventually take the match by a final of 5-4.
The Cougars will take the court again Saturday, January 11th as they will travel to Dickinson College to take on Western Ontario.
