Cougars lose home opener conference game against Stevenson

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Nov. 8, 2019 – The Cougars suffered a loss against Stevenson in conference play at Frozen Pond Arena 6-3.

RECORDS: With the loss, Chatham falls to 0-3 (0-1 UCHC) while Stevenson improves to 2-0 (2-0 UCHC).

WHAT'S NEXT: Chatham faces Fredonia Saturday, November 9 in a non-conference matchup at Frozen Pond Arena. Puck drop is set for 7:10 p.m.

SCORING SUMMARY: The Cougars got on the board first thanks to Chad Bell with an assist from Kenneth Gill.

Stevenson stayed quiet in the first period.

In the second period, Stevenson scored first to tie the game.

Just twenty-five seconds later, Chatham answered with a goal from Bell and another assist from Gill to take a 2-1 lead.

Stevenson then scored a power-play goal minutes after Chatham scored in the second period to tie the score at 2.

To start the third period, Niko Moulakelis found the back of the net on a power-play goal for the Cougars to take the lead 3-2.

With a delayed penalty, Stevenson pulled their goalie and ended up scoring tying the game at 3.

On the power play, Stevenson scored to take a 4-3 lead.

With minutes left in the third period, Chatham was on the power play.

Chatham then pulled their goalie and Stevenson scored a short-handed, empty net goal to take a 5-3 lead.

Calas returned to net, then was pulled seconds later.

Stevenson scored another short-handed, empty net goal making the final score 6-3.

GOALTENDING: Matt Calas suffered the loss tonight for the Cougars. Calas recorded 40 saves, including 19 in the first period and 15 in the second period.

SHOTS LEADER: Moulakelis led the attack with five shots on goal. Michael Lamison recorded four shots on goal.
 
FACE-OFFS: Cory King won a team best 14 face-offs. Chris Lutz won 13 draws in the circle.
